Well hello there! May has hit and 't'is officially the season of weddings, barbecues, races and other such occasions of merriment, so for today's post I've put together a more dressy outfit to tie in with that. Now, this look probably wouldn't work for a summer wedding - something about brides not liking other people to wear white, divas, I know - although, in saying that, I would actually wear it to get married IN... but that's a different story. But, yes, not ideal for wedding guest attire, but for everything else I honestly think white's the perfect colour. It's so light and bright for Spring/Summer and allows you to get pretty funky with your accessories too.

So, I'll start with the dress. It's hands down the most beautiful dress I've ever had the pleasure of wearing; dresses never normally fit me at the waist but this one, this magical one, I zipped up to find fit perfectly. Cue happy cries and lots of celebratory dad dancing. I really do love everything about it, from the exaggerated sleeves that give it a bit of edge (and also distract from bingo wings, let's not overlook that), to the midi length (that disguises potato knees, let's not overlook that either) to THE POCKETS. That's right, it's got pockets and for that reason it just blew every other dress out of the water. No more dilemmas about where to put your awkward hands during photos! Now, if you're sitting there thinking, 'darn, I love this dress but I need one for a wedding and white just won't cut it' then, fear not, it also comes in this deeeelicious red colour

Like I said, white lets you get pretty funky with accessories, so I paired the dress with these mad red tassel earrings to bring a bit of extra summer to the look (someone asked if I was a flamenco dancer when I had them in, which I've chosen to take as a compliment). I kept the rest of my accessories quite neutral with a nude Whistles clutch and a pair of H&M sandals so as not to take away from the dress and its magical pockets too much. Neutral accessories are always a safe bet because they go with almost any colour of clothing, meaning, you guessed it, you can wear them again and again. No more buying new clutches and shoes for every event you have to go to, huzzah! The clutch is a great size too, there's enough room in there to get your purse, phone, keys, lip stuff (and probably a flask too... just sayin').

And there we have it, my dressed up look! So, if you're after something for an event this summer, from evening dresses to clutch bags and everything in between, then make sure and give Selfridges a wee browse! Also, I'd like to say a huge thank you to my wee Mam for shooting these snaps for me, pretty good ain't they?
