Sustainability and... Olly Murs' crotch?

Hey pals! So, I know I always mock us Brits for talking about the weather, but today it's minus 8 in Glasgow and I feel like it would be bordering on illegal for me not to talk about it. What. The. Heck. I know people who live in places like Canada are probably rolling their eyes and thinking, 'toughen up Amy, we wear t-shirts in -8', but I am weak and I get chilblains and I can't handle this.

You may recognise today's red outfit from this post here but I wanted to do a blog post about it as well because there's only so much you can fit in an Instagram caption. So, the Boden Take 10 capsule collection is all about investing in high quality pieces that will stand up to the test of time and are also versatile enough to be mixed in with your existing wardrobe; the idea being that you can get your wear out of them and thus get that cost-per-wear down to a deliciously smug level. This is kind of how I want to approach my wardrobe as a whole this year as it's currently more bulging than... I was going to say something rude about Olly Murs there but I won't. Sometimes I look at it and think, 'I would like to burn you bit by bit' sometimes I think more normal things like, 'there are simply too many pieces in here, some of which I've worn once, or never at all, and I'm not able to wear pieces I actually like because I get overwhelmed every time I look at it'. Obviously because of the nature of my job my wardrobe's going to be a little bigger than the average so I do need to cut myself some slack there, but I have a terrible habit of buying things that I know deep down I'll never wear because I forget what I actually look like. You know how it is, you're browsing ASOS, see a tiny pair of checked hot pant shorts and think 'yeah... yeah they'd look great on me' without realising you're picturing them on Alexa Chung and in reality you're five foot small and have thighs that are an exact replica of your papa's. I'm not saying I'm going to cut out shopping completely, because that would be almost as ludicrous as saying I'll never eat fajitas again, but I am going to think a lot more carefully about things before I buy them, making sure I can think of at least three outfits I can wear the piece with first. And that's me, Amy, not Alexa Chung.

Boden is a really wonderful place to start for pieces that have a bit of longevity to them; they tend to be more classic than trend-led and the quality is great. I have a parka from them that I think I've worn about 50 times in the past 3-4 months (note how I could seamlessly tie in the weather here... but I won't). So that's the kind of thing I was looking for when I put this look together! The coat I've already re-worn with a black polo, black jeans and big black biker boots and, when the w-word (the weather) gets nicer, I have big plans to wear the red trousers with the Barbados t-shirt I wore in this post - also with Boden trousers, weirdly - and with a little white shirt tucked in for that cool-girl-French look that I long to embody.

If you'd like a wee look at the 10 pieces Boden have pulled together then you can do so here and the last thing I want to do is to draw your attention towards this polka dot suit (!) because I think it's the best two piece I've seen in a long time, modelled oh-so-perfectly by the lovely lady on the bike.

Have a good weekend and stay warm out there.

Amy

(I'm actually going to finish with this photo because I think it demonstrates perfectly two ways to wear primary colours and, also, how much of an arsehole that woman thinks I am)

I definitely thought you were referring to Olly Murs' crotch with the above comment.

I spoiled a dozen of drafts and cracked my head for more than two hours, wondering how to do this research the right way. Then I submitted my order at Paperhelpers service website. The writer completed the draft very quickly. I should say that the work exceeded all my expectations. I will stay their loyal customer in future.
