Get your jammie on

I say ‘AUTUMN’, you say ‘JAMMIES’ - ‘AUTUMN’, ‘JAMMIES!’, ‘AUTUMN’, ‘JAM... you see where I’m going with this. For me, Autumn and Winter are synonymous with cosiness. There is genuinely nothing Grandma Amy likes more than getting jammies on and cuddling up in front of a good film, perhaps with a log burner on and some hot chocolate in hand (I don’t even own a log burner but it's nice to dream). Basically what I’m saying is that I live for the jammie life. So, um, can you guess what today’s post is all about? How did you know! It's nightwear, yes. Everything I’m wearing is from the wonderful Figleaves, who you probably know already and may also remember from this swimwear lookbook I did a few months ago. Just in case you don’t, I’ll fill you in. They house lots of different brands - as well as Figleaves own brand - under one roof and have everything from swimwear to lingerie to jammies, so there's something for everyone on there. I’ve pulled together some of my favourite pieces in one big snuggly lookbook!

I was very late to jump on the nightie bandwagonl I don’t think I actually got my first one until last year and realised they’re actually quite good for making you feel all slinky and lovely and... Audrey Hepburn-esque? Only me? So, whilst I feel I will always favour pyjamas or nudieness for sleeping (some people might have winced at that - to naked slumber or not to naked slumber seems to divide the nation but I personally love it) I’ve worked the humble nightie into my collection for three occasions. When I’m on holiday (very nice to throw on when you’re prancing around your apartment with a gin in one hand and a crisp or two in the other), for when I’m getting ready for an evening out (again, probably with a gin and some crisps in hand) and for in the mornings when I’m just out of the shower and have a bit more time to get ready. We’ve got the very exotic hummingbird print chemise here,  which has hidden support to make it that bit more flattering - nobody likes an unexpected nipple popping out when you bend down to get the milk out of the fridge, the red and black chemise and the ever-so-saucy burgundy lace chemise for special occasions! If you're not a chemise fan, there is also the a matching burgundy cami and shorts set that have a very very flattering low cross back to them.

Ah, jammies. I actually can’t say the word without a contented sigh. I LOVE jammies. I live for jammies. As soon as I get in in the evening after a long day I kick off whatever I’m wearing and slip into a pair as soon as is humanly possible, normally whilst simultaneously hitting the kettle on in true British fashion. The sheer delight I get in saying ‘I think I’ll... get my comfies on’ is akin to the feeling you get when someone says ‘let’s order a Chinese’. We've got some beautiful navy floral ones which are nice and light and crisp that would also make a lovely present if you're starting to look at things for, dare I say it, Christmas. A DKNY lip print pair which are particularly delicious to wear; they’re very silky so that when you sit on the sofa or get into bed you slide instantly down into an optimum position. They're not in stock yet but will be very soon! If you're more of a fan of pyjama shorts then there's the option of the white DKNY set with grey piping you see above (which I felt like a very well to-do tennis player in) and there’s also the luxurious matching cashmere joggers and cashmere robe which is possibly my favourite set of all. It's a little more pricey than the others but is such a treat to wear; super soft, super warm and really lovely quality. It also comes with a matching hooded jumper if you want to go all out! Whilst we're on the cosy side of things, there's also the matching merino joggers and jumper in burgundy which are oh so cosy and perfect for a Wintery evening in. There's also the black lace teddy, which is a nice compromise between jammies and a nightie and has a bit of an edge with the lower neckline and lace detailing.

And then, of course, we have the Calvins. I think Calvin Klein's my favourite brand for comfies, be it a pair of slim leg joggers, soft white tee or some nice undies. They really have it nailed, don't they? They also have the added bonus of being cool enough that you can wear them out and about and no one will judge you (I've worn mine flying a few times and you can stretch about like a yoga guru to your heart's content in those badboys).

And there we have it... one post, many, many nightwear looks. See what I mean about Figleaves having something for everyone? It really was such a fun shoot to work on, although one thing I learned is that it's incredibly difficult to get one of those cute, pinterest-y shots that girls do when they're kind of playfully pulling their pyjama top off. I got my head stuck at least seven times and on one occasion my arm was bent at such a weird angle that it looked like Lockhart had performed the bone removing spell on me.

Well, it feels right to sign off on a Harry Potter reference after such a cosy post. Happy jammie browsing!
