So... Autumn is here. What does this mean? Nice red and orange leaves scattered everywhere? Check. Central heating and cosy socks? Check. The return of the pumpkin spice latte? CHECK. That's right, your favourite drink is back and this time it's brought a friend with it... the caramel pecan latte.

On a very Autumnal day in Edinburgh last week - the sun was low, the air was crisp, the aforementioned red leaves were out - myself and Kirsty decided to treat ourselves to a cosy hot drink and a little wander around Edinburgh. We started off at Starbucks on George Street and, after a long internal debate, I branched out and ordered the caramel pecan latte. I'm not a big coffee drinker and when I do it needs to be very sweet (that's right, I know all about clean eating) so the promise of caramel really tickled my pickle. Disappoint it did not, it's like a little cosy, Autumnal sweet cuddle in a mug. We sat and enjoyed that for a little while before noticing the rain was threatening to come on, so I got the rest of mine popped in a takeaway cup (with some extra caramel sauce, yes, I regret nothing) and we had ourselves a little wander and a window shop down George Street.

I've never actually been to the Edinburgh Botanical gardens - shame on me - so we headed down that way and had a nice little walk through the greenhouses fuelled by coffee and sugar. And that, my friends, brought to end a very lovely Autumnal afternoon. Don't tell anyone but I started to feel a tiny little glimmer of excitement for Christmas due to the combination of delicious hot beverages and the cold weather. I'm not proud of it either.
