Two looks for under £50

The Little Magpie Matalan Petite Range So, this post is particularly for all my fellow petite pals out there. The clothes-related questions I get asked most often tend to focus on where I shop for clothes that are good for us small 'uns, do I get my clothes altered, where is good to buy petite jeans etc so I’m going to come back and do a post specifically on petite dressing to try and answer them all! Today, however, I’m bringing to you the news of a new petite launch... that’s right, Matalan have introduced a section for us munchkins! It’s relatively small at the moment but there’s a whole lot of wardrobe staples in there (and at really reasonable prices too) that you won’t want to miss. Here are my favourites...

The trench was one of the bits that called out to me as soon as I went on the site. It’s in a beautiful shade of pink that goes with so many other colours and is a really great transitional piece for going from Summer into Autumn/Winter. It’s quite light so you could easily wear it on one of those deliciously mild Autumn days we’re occasionally blessed with, but there’s also room underneath it if you wanted to layer up with a wee jumper or two. I paired it with a cropped sleeve breton tee - one of my top wardrobe staples - and some grey tailored trousers. I’m always wary of how this style of trousers are going to fit but these are very flattering and they crop at the perfect length too. Another trip to the alterations shop successfully avoided, huzzah! I think they’d look great paired with a plain t-shirt and some trainers or slip on vans as an alternate look to my slightly more dressed up one here. Outfit total for all three items? £47! Madness.

For look numero dos I went for a suit; you know how I love me a suit. It’s checked, it’s tailored and it comes in at a purse-pleasing £34. Exciting huh? I paired it with trainers and a cropped top for a bit more of a casual look but you could easily dress it up for a smart evening look or for a smart office look too. I had to roll them up slightly at the bottom but that's only because I prefer more of a cropped look on tailored trousers. Something else I tried, that aren't actually featured in this post but that I want to point out, are the jeans - they are so, SO nice. That’s right, I’m pulling out the big guns with my capital letters to stress just how nice. They’re really lovely and fitted to give your peach a nice little lift and they finish perfectly at the ankle which is a rare treat. One of the first times in a long time I haven’t had to cut the hems off my jeans like a barbarian.

So, on that note, if you have any petite questions or tips you’d like answered then fire them my way either here or on instagram and I’ll do my best to answer them! I hope that this post brought some petite treasures your way in the meantime.
