A-hello there! Today's post is brought to you from the lovely Eden Locke, one of my favourite places to stay in Edinburger. I often go into Hyde & Son - EL's cafe - but had the pleasure of staying in the actual hotel for the first time last month. I'd heard good things from friends who'd stayed there previously and was absolutely not disappointed! First up, the location is perfect. It's right on George Street, one of Edinburgh's best streets for shopping, and a two minute walk from Princes Street, another excellent shopping street (honestly, it's rude not to shop when you're there). It's also located very close to the castle! The suites themselves have everything you could ever need, from a Smart TV to a fully equipped kitchen - complete with sassy gold cocktail shaker - T2 teas, a big comfy sofa, plug sockets with USB ports and a very lovely colour scheme to boot. We loved it so much that we actually ended up booking a second night's stay, which we spent curled up on the sofa with a takeaway pizza and a blanket. It honestly is the perfect home from home! We didn't have any supplies in for breakfast so we picked up a cake from Hyde & Son (yes I had cake for breakfast, but it was December, it's allowed) and sat down there with a coffee and matcha latte. I'm the little wanker who drinks Matcha lattes if you're wondering. Another thing I should add is that the staff are the nicest people you'll meet! I go in there all the time and they haven't once told me they're fed up of me.

On our first night there we had dinner at the beautiful Baba, a new restaurant which has opened up literally right across the street from Eden Locke. It's a mezze, charcoal grill and cocktail bar and has a menu that's bursting with everything from multiple kinds of hummus to baba ganoush to monkfish to slow grilled pork. Most of the dishes are built for sharing which, as the world's most indecisive meal chooser, I loved. The staff had a really good knowledge of allergens too, so if you suffer from any intolerances then you're safe here! My Mum said to tell you - I didn't have the pleasure of trying one because I'd stuffed myself full of gluten free pitta bread and hummus throughout the meal - that the stuffed medjool date you get with your coffee or tea at the end is heaven. I don't think I'd even finished offering her mine before she'd swiped it. You could say they were... fa-Baba-ulous. Anyone?
