A Dinner at The Blythswood

The Little Magpie Blythswood Glasgow Restaurant Review
Allo! As you may remember from good old Snapchat, myself and my amigo Karen were invited down to The Blythswood a couple of weeks ago to try out their new menu. I'd only ever been there for lunch and drinks before, and always loved it, so I was mucho excited to head on down to get my taste on. Sorry, I won't say that again.

We started with cocktails (of course), and they did not disappoint; I still dream of those pink ladies now. We were then given a little run through through the menu, along with some recommendations, and - wait for it - there's a separate menu for gluten free-ers! A whole menu all to ourselves. What lark! Mine was almost identical to Karen (minus a couple of things, like the pie) and they'd just adapted the dishes slightly to make them GF. Oh the joy of having an entire menu to choose from, it was overwhelming really. Neither of us could whittle our choices down to one, so we decided to pick a starter each and half it. After mini mushroom soup amuse-bouche's - delicious - we had prawn cocktail and chicken liver parfait with onion chutney to share, both of which were lovely.

After that, we moved onto mains. After much deliberation from both our parts, I ended up with pan fried duck breast and Karen with steak frites. Both were delish and cooked to perfection, and those little La Ratte potatoes in particular were a real treat for the mouth. What did we wash those down with I hear you ask? A couple more Pink Lady cocktails. When in Rome and all that.

God damnit, now I'm hungry. After that, we were both very, very full. Too full for dessert, however? NEVER. Karen went for the delicious looking beetroot brownie, while I went for cheese and grapes. At this point there was genuine worry we would have to roll ourselves home.

So, once again, a big thank you to the beautiful Blythswood for having us in for one of the tastiest meals I've had in a while. And if anyone's thinking of visiting themselves and would like a wee look at the menu, then you can check it out in full here!
