Barbados Round III: Southern Palms

The Little Magpie Southern Palms Barbados Review

Today marks a sad day.. the last of my Barbados posts. I know, I know, I'll just have to go back. That's what you were thinking, right? Anyway, this might just be my favourite of the three so I'll get stuck right in.

So, I finished up my time at the amazing Southern Palms, A.K.A my pink palace. I absolutely love Southern Palms; it's where I stayed the first time I went to Barbados so it felt like coming home. In fact, even if you've never been there before it kind of feels like that - it's just a lovely, chilled atmosphere and the guys who work there are all so welcoming too. My room this time was absolutely beautiful, very seaside-y and very peaceful.

It had everything you could ever need from walk-in wardrobe to kitchen to two big-ass tv's (why not) to - my favourite part - world's best balcony.

Most of my time there was spent on the beach, on the rocks reading and people watching (classic pervert spot), watching sunrises/sets or in the sea (it's on the South coast so the waves are choppy as hell, makes for a fun swim or watersport session), summed up in the photos below. If you could put on some montage-style music to scroll through them with that'd be great.

Those little rocks right there are the previously mentioned, um, pervert rocks. In all seriousness though, they make for both the perfect reading spot during the day and the perfect sunset-watching spot at night. Behold:

So, that was sunset number one, taken from the rocks whilst I was having a little reading session (Still Alice, FYI, if you haven't read it then definitely do but.. with lots of tissues to accompany you). For the next night's sunset I took a little wander along St Lawrence's gap and passed the most amazing little bar you could watch it from. However, I wasn't dressed for bar life - I had no shoes on, ok - so I went to the beach right next to it and watched from there.

On my last night, world's most beautiful sunset came out to play. The whole apartment lit up with this beautiful dusky pink so I went outside to explore and was like, 'YES mother nature, you've nailed it yet again you absolute devil you'.

Because the hotel's pink, the sunset just bounced right off it and the whole place lit up like a big, beautiful pink playground. I popped ma sandals on - I wasn't about to make the same mistake twice - and went a little wander to take it all in.

Seriously, what a sunset. Southern Palms is beautiful at night too, the pool changes colours (what? Stop pushing me to pick a favourite one. Ok, it was green) and the beach gets the sun really late so you can just sit under a palm and chill and take it all in. There's quite a lot of dog walkers too so you'll see some absolutely amazing little pups, I don't like to brag but I made many a hairy friend during my time there.

And that was it! Time for one last amazing sunset from the plane on the way home. I've never seen one like it either, there was streaks of orange and pink and coral running through the clouds and it was just wonderful.

Well, I'm off to pour myself a rum so I can cry into it. Stay tuned for my Maldives posts coming soon (please?). And once again, thank you so the shamazing Southern Palms for having me stay!
