Bonjour, bonjour! Welcome to post 2 of 4 of my time in Iceland. One of the questions I've been asked most is  - drumroll, please - where to stay. We were lucky enough to be put up by Airbnb for our time there, which was actually my first experience of the site. Every time I go on a city break I mean to try it out and every single time I forget, so this seemed as good a time as any! We were given a choice of three and decided to go for Kris' apartment as it was well located and looked really quirky from the photos. What we didn't realise until we got there was quite how well located it was - it was literally a minute's walk from the bus station and a five minute walk from Laugavegur, one of the main streets in Reykjavik. I have to say, I wasn't really sure what to expect from staying in someone else's apartment, but I absolutely loved it. The price of food in Iceland is CRAY, so we bought in food from the supermarket to cook breakfast each morning which was a big help. Because we were so close to the centre of town, it was nice to be able to nip back during the day when the torrential rain or hail hit for a cup of tea (and a long stand in front of a radiator). However, the moment I really realised how much I enjoyed the airbnb life was on the Saturday night; we got home around ten and had an early start on the Sunday so, instead of going out, we bought a ha-UGE big tub of Ben and Jerry's and sat curled up on the sofa watching a film with the snow falling outside the window. Living the OAP dream. In all seriousness though, it is a completely different experience to staying in a hotel, but it a good way - like having your own little home from home!
